On vient ici pour une chose simple : tenir New York à bonne distance, sans la quitter des yeux. Le Plaza le fait mieux que beaucoup, parce qu’il regarde Central Park de face depuis 1907. Ce détail change tout. Vous n’êtes pas dans un hôtel interchangeable de Midtown, mais dans une adresse classée New York City Landmark, avec un poids réel dans le paysage urbain. Henry Janeway Hardenbergh a signé l’enveloppe. Elle impose encore son tempo. À l’intérieur, je retiens surtout une donnée utile : 282 clés, dont 102 suites. C’est assez grand pour absorber le mouvement, assez structuré pour garder ses repères si vous ciblez bien vos habitudes. Le soir, The Champagne Bar reste le point le plus lisible. La vue annoncée sur Fifth Avenue et la Pulitzer Fountain vous donne immédiatement l’état de la ville. Plus posé, The Palm Court tient son rôle avec l’afternoon tea et un service du soir bien distinct. Si vous cherchez un palace au sens Atout France, il coche la case. Si vous cherchez surtout une mécanique new-yorkaise bien huilée, avec spa 111SKIN, room service 24 h/24 et voiturier, c’est là que le Plaza devient intéressant.
