Morocco — The MyConciergeHotel guide to Palaces and exceptional riads

Morocco luxury travel guide 5 regions: Marrakech, Essaouira, Desert (Erg Chebbi), Tangier/Tetouan, Fes. MyConciergeHotel selection Palaces, riads, resorts. Updated May 2026.

Morocco concentrates some of the world's most beautiful hotel addresses — Royal Mansour in Marrakech, La Mamounia, Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, Selman Marrakech, Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay. Our concierge curates riads and Palaces by criteria: urban palace, intimate riad, seaside resort or desert retreat.

Which Palaces and riads are best for a luxury stay in Morocco?

MyConciergeHotel covers 5 flagship regions: Marrakech (Royal Mansour, La Mamounia, Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, Selman, Amanjena), Essaouira (Sofitel Mogador Golf & Spa, Heure Bleue Palais Relais & Châteaux), Desert (Erg Chebbi — luxury Azalaï camps), Tangier/Tetouan (Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay, Tangerine), Fes (Riad Fès Relais & Châteaux, La Mamounia Fes). IATA booking. Last updated May 2026.

Five regions, five experiences

#1

Marrakech

Adresses phares

Royal Mansour Marrakech (His Majesty Mohammed VI, 53 private riads), La Mamounia (institution since 1923, renovated by Jouin Manku 2020), Mandarin Oriental Marrakech (palmeraie, 54 villas with private pool), Selman Marrakech (Arabian horse stud), Amanjena (Palmeraie, 39 pavilions), La Maison Arabe.

Pour quel séjour

First Morocco trip, wellness stay (Royal Mansour hammam), starred Moroccan gastronomy (Le Marocain at La Mamounia), Atlas excursion (Ourika), Medina souk shopping.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Royal Mansour, ask for riad 7 (the most secluded, larger interior courtyard, private hammam lounge overlooking the garden). For La Mamounia, don't stay in a Prestige room — prefer the "Pavillon Jardin" Koutoubia side: 60m² with full-frame private terrace, refurbished by Jouin Manku.
#2

Essaouira

Adresses phares

Sofitel Mogador Golf & Spa, Heure Bleue Palais (Relais & Châteaux, former Hotel Métropole 1908 renovated), Madada Mogador, L'Heure Bleue Palais, Villa Maroc.

Pour quel séjour

Less crowded seaside stay than Marrakech, wind and surf (Sidi Kaouki), fish gastronomy (Le Patio), blue and white colours of the medina, urban photography.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Heure Bleue Palais, ask for the "Maroc suite" on the 2nd floor terrace side — sea + medina alley view, private hammam. To taste local cuisine, book Caravane Café restaurant (off-hotel) at nightfall — table 5 on the covered terrace.
#3

Desert (Erg Chebbi)

Adresses phares

Azalaï Desert Camp luxury bivouacs, Erg Chebbi Luxury Camp, Sahara Sky Camp. All offer high-comfort Berber tents (hotel-quality bedding, private bathroom, double bed, solar power) in the heart of the dunes.

Pour quel séjour

Sunrise and sunset on the dunes, camel ride at dusk, dinner under the stars, astronomical observation (Bortle 1 zone, purest sky in North Africa), 2 nights ideal.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: arrange to arrive at camp 1h before sunset — you ride a camel up to dune 5 (highest point, 150m) and watch sunset from altitude. Next-day departure must be before 7:30am for sunrise (cool temperature, dunes still cold — magical light between 6:45 and 7am).
#4

Tangier & Tetouan

Adresses phares

Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay (Tetouan, Mediterranean beach, villas with private pool), Tangerine (Tangier, Strait of Gibraltar view), Hotel Es Saadi (Marrakech alternative), Villa Joséphine (Tangier, Relais & Châteaux).

Pour quel séjour

Mediterranean beach preferred over Atlantic (warmer water), proximity to Andalusia (35 min ferry from Tarifa), Hispano-Moroccan gastronomy, international Tangier atmosphere (Bowles).

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Banyan Tree Tamouda Bay, ask for villa 142 (row 14, central position in the complex with direct access to the main pool + 80m private beach). For the signature restaurant, choose table 6 by the reflecting pool — best photo angle at dusk.
#5

Fes

Adresses phares

Riad Fès Relais & Châteaux (Medina heart, former 19th-century palace), La Mamounia Fes (group extension, 2024 opening), Palais Faraj, Riad Maison Bleue, Riad Salam Fes.

Pour quel séjour

Pure cultural stay (most preserved Medina UNESCO in the Arab world, Chouara tanneries, Al Quaraouiyine university founded 859), traditional gastronomy, craftsmanship (carpets, leather, copper).

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Riad Fès, ask for Junior suite 4 (main patio side, original cedar ceiling, private hammam). For the Chouara tanneries visit, go between 9 and 10am — light illuminates the dye basins, smell still bearable (artisans offer you a mint sprig to breathe).

Morocco — frequently asked questions

How many Moroccan addresses are in your catalogue?

About ten 5★ and Palace addresses across the 5 main regions (Marrakech, Essaouira, Desert, Tangier/Tetouan, Fes). Royal Mansour, La Mamounia and the main Relais & Châteaux of the kingdom are featured.

Security — is Morocco safe for a luxury stay?

Yes. Morocco is one of the safest destinations in the Arab world. Tourism classified as national heritage, visible police presence in tourist areas. Our concierge stays available 24/7 during your stay for any question.

Can Marrakech + Desert + Essaouira be combined in one stay?

Yes — classic 8-10-day itinerary: Marrakech (3 nights) → Atlas drive via Aït Ben Haddou + Ouarzazate → Merzouga Desert (2 nights) → return Marrakech → Essaouira (2-3 nights). Our concierge organises 4×4 transfers + bivouacs + return.

Does Ramadan affect the stay?

5★ hotels and upmarket restaurants serve normally to non-Muslims during Ramadan. Medina life slows during the day and is very lively in the evening after iftar (breaking fast). Our concierge tells you the exact dates before the stay.

Are your Moroccan rates more expensive than booking direct?

No — we access net Amadeus GDS rates in EUR or MAD, identical to the hotel's public published rate. Our comparator transparently shows Booking, Hotels.com and Expedia rates for the same dates.

Do my Mandarin Oriental loyalty points work on Mandarin Marrakech?

Yes — attach your Fans of Mandarin Oriental number at checkout. Points credited after the stay. The MyConciergeHotel programme stacks (perks cumulable — see /le-concierge/loyalty).

Do you have a recommendation for a wedding in Morocco?

Royal Mansour Marrakech privatisable for weddings of 30-150 guests, complete infrastructure (separate riads for guests, private kitchen for buffets, sound system). Selman Marrakech for weddings with horse ambience. Our MICE cell prepares a bespoke quote — see /le-concierge/mice-and-events.
