Switzerland — The MyConciergeHotel guide to Palaces and 5★ hotels

Switzerland luxury travel guide 6 hubs: Alps (Gstaad, St Moritz, Zermatt), Lakes (Geneva, Lugano), cities (Geneva, Zurich). MyConciergeHotel selection. Updated May 2026.

Switzerland concentrates the most accomplished Alpine art of living: Gstaad for intimate skiing, St Moritz for international reach, Zermatt for the Matterhorn, Lucerne and Lugano for the lakes, Geneva and Zurich for culture and finance. Net Amadeus GDS rates, secure payment, MyConciergeHotel loyalty programme.

Which Palaces and 5★ hotels are best for a luxury stay in Switzerland?

MyConciergeHotel covers Swiss luxury hubs: Gstaad (Gstaad Palace, Le Grand Bellevue, Park Gstaad), St Moritz (Badrutt's Palace, Kulm Hotel, Suvretta House), Zermatt (Mont Cervin Palace, The Omnia), Lake Geneva (Beau-Rivage Geneva, Le Mirador Resort & Spa, Beau-Rivage Palace Lausanne), Zurich (Dolder Grand, Baur au Lac, Park Hyatt). IATA booking via our concierge. Last updated May 2026.

Six hubs, six experiences

#1

Gstaad

Adresses phares

Gstaad Palace (family institution since 1913), Le Grand Bellevue (Relais & Châteaux, village spirit), Park Gstaad (renovated 2023, Leading Hotels), The Alpina Gstaad (Leading Hotels, contemporary Alpine design), Ultima Gstaad.

Pour quel séjour

Ski-in/ski-out from mid-December to mid-March, discreet private retreats, cultural après-ski (Menuhin Festival concerts in July-August), refined Alpine gastronomy (Sommet 1★ at Park Gstaad).

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at the Gstaad Palace, ask for room 433 rather than a suite — full Bernese view, south balcony, refurbished by the 4th-generation Scherz family in 2023. For La Fromagerie restaurant, book the 8:30-10pm slot midweek — table 8 facing the hearth is rarely allocated spontaneously.
#2

St Moritz

Adresses phares

Badrutt's Palace Hotel (since 1896, the Engadine icon), Kulm Hotel St. Moritz (Leading Hotels), Suvretta House (Leading Hotels, neutral toward the village), Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski.

Pour quel séjour

Corviglia + Corvatsch skiing, polo on the frozen lake (late January), White Turf, 2★ gastronomy (Da Vittorio at Carlton), Serlas street shopping.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Badrutt's Palace, don't stay in the main building in winter — prefer the rooms in the "Mountain Wing" on the Engadiner Sport side (direct Lake St. Moritz view). For Igniv restaurant (3★ Andreas Caminada), book 6 weeks ahead — lunch tasting menu is less competitive in access.
#3

Zermatt

Adresses phares

Mont Cervin Palace (Leading Hotels, direct Matterhorn view), The Omnia (Design Hotels, Marriott), CERVO Mountain Resort, Riffelalp Resort (Europe's highest 5★, 2,222m), Schweizerhof Zermatt.

Pour quel séjour

Year-round skiing + summer glaciers (unique in Europe), Matterhorn hiking, Alpine gastronomy by Heinz Beck (Mont Cervin), high-altitude wellness retreats (Riffelalp).

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: if you stay at Mont Cervin Palace, ask for Junior room 421 (rather than a pricier suite) — east orientation with full Matterhorn view, covered balcony to watch sunrise without cold. For Riffelalp Resort, book the 7:32pm Gornergrat cogwheel train for arrival (alpenglow view of the Matterhorn).
#4

Lake Geneva & Lausanne

Adresses phares

Beau-Rivage Palace (Lausanne, since 1861, Leading Hotels), Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne (Bürgenstock Group, renovated 2015), Le Mirador Resort & Spa (Mont-Pèlerin, panoramic Alps view), Lausanne Palace, Grand-Hôtel du Lac (Vevey, Relais & Châteaux).

Pour quel séjour

Wellness cure (Le Mirador), 3★ gastronomy (Anne-Sophie Pic at Beau-Rivage), events (Tour de Romandie, Athletissima), Vaudois Riviera in May-June and September.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Beau-Rivage Palace, ask for suite 333 (Tissot Lounge — small private balcony, Lake Geneva view toward Évian, original 1861 parquet). For Anne-Sophie Pic, book the Thursday "Esprit Pic" lunch (3 courses at 195 CHF, more accessible than evening menu).
#5

Geneva & Zurich

Adresses phares

Geneva: Beau-Rivage Geneva (since 1865, Mont Blanc view), Hôtel d'Angleterre, Mandarin Oriental Geneva, Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues. Zurich: Dolder Grand (the Hill, Leading Hotels), Baur au Lac (since 1844, Leading Hotels), Park Hyatt Zurich, Widder Hotel.

Pour quel séjour

Premium business stay, urban starred gastronomy (The Restaurant 1★ at Dolder, Pavillon 1★ at Baur au Lac), shopping (Bahnhofstrasse Zurich, Rue du Rhône Geneva), direct access from Paris (TGV Lyria 3h).

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Dolder Grand, ask for room 4063 in the "Spa Wing" (north-east facing, Zurich and Alps view on clear days). For Beau-Rivage Geneva, suite 622 (6th floor lake facade) offers the best Mont Blanc view — full south orientation, 65m². Refurbished by the Mayer heirs in 2024.
#6

Lucerne, Lugano & Bürgenstock

Adresses phares

Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort (2017 reopening, Lake Lucerne view from 870m), Park Hotel Vitznau (Leading Hotels, Lake Lucerne), Mandarin Oriental Palace Luzern (2022 reopening), Splendide Royal (Lugano, Leading Hotels).

Pour quel séjour

Quiet stay post-ski or summer (May-October), Pilatus / Rigi hiking, 2★ gastronomy (Focus at Park Hotel Vitznau), Pilatus helicopter scenic flight.

Le Conseil du Concierge

My tip: at Bürgenstock, stay at the "Palace Hotel" (reopened 2017) rather than the newer "Bürgenstock Hotel" — historic atmosphere, Belle Époque lobby, more direct lake view. Ask for room 248 (corner suite south-west facade, private terrace full-frame).

Switzerland — frequently asked questions

How many Swiss addresses are in your catalogue?

Around fifteen 5★ and Palace addresses across the 6 main hubs (Gstaad, St Moritz, Zermatt, Lake Geneva, Geneva/Zurich, Lucerne/Lugano). Our Amadeus network also lets us book any 5★ GDS-connected Swiss address on request.

Is skiing in Switzerland more expensive than in France?

Lift passes are comparable in the Swiss Alps (Verbier, Zermatt) to those of Courchevel or Val d'Isère. Upmarket accommodation is slightly higher on average in Switzerland, but the service/price ratio is typically better (more stable teams, deeper training).

Which hub to favour for a first ski in Switzerland?

If you seek family intimacy: Gstaad (Gstaad Palace, Le Grand Bellevue). If you seek international reach: St Moritz (Badrutt's Palace, Kulm). If you seek pure high mountain: Zermatt (Mont Cervin Palace) with its iconic Matterhorn.

Are your Swiss rates more expensive than booking direct?

No — we access net Amadeus GDS rates in CHF, identical to the hotel's public published rate. Our non-affiliated comparator on every page transparently shows Booking and Hotels.com rates for the same dates.

Do you accept payment in CHF?

Yes — direct payment in CHF possible from your bank card (multi-currency account at some banks) or in EUR with conversion at the ECB daily rate. For payments > CHF 10,000, SEPA transfer available on request.

Does the MyConciergeHotel loyalty programme work on Swiss hotels?

Yes for Little Hotelier-connected addresses (Essential tier automatic). For upmarket independents (Beau-Rivage, Baur au Lac) outside Little Hotelier, the Prestige tier (upcoming launch) will apply its perks.

Can Switzerland be combined with Italy (Lake Como to St Moritz)?

Yes — Bernina Express train St Moritz → Tirano (Italy, 2h30, UNESCO-listed). Our concierge organises the combo St Moritz (Badrutt's Palace) + Lake Como (Villa d'Este) with coordinated transfers. Ideal window: June or September.
